We foster the essential professional qualities that outstanding teachers possess, including: inspiring and motivating students in your subject, dedication to inclusive education and student welfare, maintaining high personal and professional standards, and continuously reflecting on and improving your practice. Discover innovative approaches to make Mathematics engaging, helping students become self-directed learners who are both challenged and excited by mathematical concepts. During university sessions, we demonstrate techniques to cultivate a passion for learning through interactive mathematical exercises that encourage teamwork and dialogue - skills you'll further refine in classroom settings. Program Overview The full-time PGCE Secondary program spans one academic year and encompasses all subject areas. Your initial school placement starts with observation periods, where you'll watch your mentor teachers lead classes you'll eventually teach. You'll gradually take on lesson components before assuming full teaching responsibilities, while also learning about subject curricula, school operations, and student development. Throughout your training, your subject-specialist Academic Tutor provides personalized guidance, helping you grow both personally and professionally while coordinating with your school mentors to offer comprehensive support. The PGCE Secondary experience culminates in developing your unique teaching identity. You'll design original teaching materials, establish your instructional style, and gain the confidence to make your subject come alive. Over the year, you'll document and analyze your experiences, compiling evidence to demonstrate your readiness for Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). Career Pathways Upon completing our PGCE with QTS recommendation, you're fully prepared to launch your teaching career. We provide application and interview assistance during the program to ensure a strong professional start. As a beginning teacher, your employing school will support you through a two-year induction period, after which you could progress to leadership roles such as Department Head, Assistant Principal, or Headteacher, or specialize in student welfare positions like Year Group Leader.
