Crime captivates us endlessly. Whether flipping through TV channels or browsing the internet, you'll quickly come across crime-related content - from news reports to dramatic portrayals. This constant media presence reflects both society's lasting intrigue with unlawful acts and their repercussions, as well as crime's persistent role as a societal issue. Our Criminology program lets you examine criminal behavior through multiple lenses, acquire hands-on experience, and build versatile skills applicable across various professional fields.
The study of criminology encompasses numerous approaches, creating a richly varied academic discipline. You'll analyze criminal activity from multiple viewpoints and theoretical frameworks. Required courses cover fundamental criminological theories, contemporary debates, and research challenges, while electives allow specialization in areas of particular interest. We actively facilitate real-world learning through volunteer opportunities and internships, helping you cultivate both practical competencies and analytical abilities alongside your academic understanding of justice systems.
The optional placement year enables you to pursue professional experience, typically involving one to three positions spanning at least nine months. Successfully completing this component showcases your capacity to obtain and maintain employment at a graduate level.
