The MPhil program equips you with in-depth expertise in a specific field or historical era, serving as a foundation for further scholarly investigation. You'll cultivate autonomous research abilities suitable for academic positions or high-level research careers, while producing a comprehensive thesis that could potentially evolve into doctoral-level work.
The PhD program supports you in executing an extensive research project within Philosophy and/or Religious Studies, preparing you for university teaching or research roles. Upon completion, you'll have broad understanding of your specialized area and will have delivered an innovative, meaningful contribution to academic knowledge.
Both programs include research methodology and professional skills development through the University's Graduate Training Programme (excluding distance learning options). You'll work with a dedicated supervisor who offers guidance on topic selection and academic matters. Instruction occurs through personalized sessions, tailored to individual needs and supervisor judgment. Consultation methods may include email or phone, but regular in-person meetings are essential for progress reviews.
