This multidisciplinary program offers comprehensive exploration of oceanic, marine, and estuarine systems through biological, chemical, and physical perspectives. Students will examine marine ecosystems at all scales, from microscopic organisms to giant sea mammals. The curriculum emphasizes how marine environments are shaped by fundamental physical forces (currents, tides, waves, and ocean circulation) and biogeochemical cycles (carbon flow, microbial nutrient recycling) that connect atmospheric, aquatic, and benthic systems.
This four-year program mirrors the Marine Biology and Oceanography BSc structure for the first three years. The final year focuses on an extensive research project culminating in a dissertation.
Optional Placement Year and International Experience Year Available
Career Prospects
The four-year track provides excellent research training. The final year's project offers hands-on research experience, serving as strong preparation for doctoral studies and scientific careers.
