This program is officially recognized by the Institute of Chartered Foresters and contributes toward meeting the requirements for Professional Membership Entry. Over twelve months, you'll deepen your knowledge of forest ecosystems, their global environmental significance, and the valuable resources and benefits forests offer.
The MSc Environmental Forestry program has operated for over a quarter-century, with alumni now employed in forestry sectors worldwide. We maintain strong connections with forestry and environmental groups across the UK and internationally, whose experts frequently contribute to the curriculum. Classroom instruction, group discussions, and self-directed study are complemented by hands-on fieldwork, forest excursions, and an intensive week-long study trip where students engage with industry professionals about management and policy challenges.

Career Prospects
Despite broader economic uncertainties, the growing significance of natural resource conservation - especially forest management - has created a recognized skills gap in the forestry field. Our graduates' rapid employment rates demonstrate this demand. Alumni have secured positions with government agencies, non-governmental organizations, and research institutions throughout Europe and beyond. Many have also used this MSc as a foundation for advanced research, producing exceptional scientists specializing in tree biology, forest ecology, and sustainable resource management.
