The Modern Languages program provides opportunities to pursue a PhD or MPhil in Chinese Studies (full-time over three years or part-time across six years). With a strong history of outstanding support for postgraduate scholars, the School assigns each student two academic supervisors. Participants enjoy comprehensive access to computing resources (including translation memory tools), library services, and all School facilities such as the film collection. A specialized postgraduate study space within the School is available and students are strongly encouraged to utilize this resource regularly.

Good grades in Bachelor degree and a Masters degree. Previous research experience is essential.
Minimum of 65% in undergraduate programme from a recognised university in China (211 university) OR
Minimum of 70% in undergraduate programme from a recognised university in China (non 211 university)
Mature students: will be considered on a case by case basis.
English Language Requirements: IELTS 6.5 (6.0) or equivalent.
