Primates (including apes, monkeys, tarsiers, lemurs, and lorises) are confronting an extinction threat due to their specialized biological and ecological needs, often inhabiting regions particularly susceptible to habitat destruction. As our closest animal relatives, they offer unique insights into human evolutionary history. This BSc Zoology with Primatology program delivers comprehensive zoological education while specializing in primate studies within an evolutionary framework. Students will explore animal diversity, evolution, behavior, ecology, anatomy, physiology, and development through a zoological lens, while specialized primatology modules deliver targeted theoretical and practical knowledge about these mammals. The curriculum examines both primate evolutionary origins and contemporary adaptations while equipping students to address pressing conservation issues. Throughout the program, participants will acquire diverse laboratory and field techniques, both domestically and internationally, alongside transferable scientific skills including data analysis, scientific writing, and communication. The course offers zoology modules spanning vertebrate and invertebrate studies, complemented by specialized primatology and human evolution options. Students may participate in an optional field course observing primates in their natural environments (such as Uganda's Kibale National Park).
