They stand as influential figures in modern Wales, actively shaping its tomorrow.
At Bangor, Welsh thrives as a contemporary language, not merely a historical artifact. Here, you'll explore one of the world's most fascinating Celtic literary traditions while accessing practical modules for career readiness. This program fosters independent research, creative thinking, deep understanding of Welsh literature and culture, and mastery of the language's varied styles. For aspiring writers, guidance from accomplished authors and poets is available. You'll also examine Welsh within global contexts - its connections to other world languages, comparisons with languages like Basque and Irish, and how Welsh writers have addressed universal themes from slavery to environmental crises. With modules spanning ancient to modern times, your academic journey knows no bounds.
This course welcomes both native and second-language Welsh speakers, serving as an ideal next step for beginners who completed the foundation year or those who've gained proficiency through programs like the National Centre for Learning Welsh.
