Our doctoral programs in criminology empower you to pursue your academic interests under the guidance of our expert faculty. You'll receive dedicated support from two primary supervisors, with access to additional specialists when needed. Our supervisory team possesses extensive knowledge across criminology's diverse fields, with notable expertise in youth justice systems, international crime comparisons, organized crime structures, offender profiling techniques, violent behavior studies, exploitation patterns, crime visualization methods, and surveillance policy debates. You'll join a dynamic research community that maintains strong partnerships with Anglia Ruskin's academic networks and local organizations such as the Citizen's Advice Bureau, National Probation Service, Cambridgeshire Constabulary, and Crown Court system. We actively participate in multiple Faculty research initiatives, including collaborations with the Policing Institute for the Eastern Region (PIER) and StoryLab Research Institute.
Our program features numerous academic events, including departmental seminars and Faculty-wide presentations, creating supportive platforms to share your work. These gatherings, complemented by our digital learning platforms, facilitate interdisciplinary connections with fellow researchers. Your specialized studies will be strengthened by university-wide professional development workshops covering essential research competencies such as ethical considerations, academic presentations, intellectual property rights, and digital research methodologies.
