Our doctoral programs offer the opportunity to participate in existing research initiatives or pursue your own sociological interests under the guidance of our expert faculty. Each student receives two dedicated supervisors, with access to additional support when needed. Our supervisory team possesses broad expertise across sociological disciplines, with specialized knowledge in areas including social theory, gender studies, science and technology studies, and migration research. You'll benefit from a vibrant academic environment with strong connections to research networks at Anglia Ruskin and beyond, including collaborations with organizations like the Citizens Advice Bureau and Cambridge University's CRASSH. We actively participate in numerous faculty research initiatives such as PIER and StoryLab Research Institute.
The program features regular research events including departmental seminars, providing supportive platforms to present your work. These gatherings, complemented by our digital resources, facilitate interdisciplinary connections with fellow researchers.
Your specialized studies will be strengthened by comprehensive university-wide training, developing essential skills in research ethics, academic presentations, intellectual property, and digital research methods.
