Cultivate a comprehensive learning method by combining hands-on lab work, theoretical knowledge, practical construction site involvement, and awareness of your projects' environmental effects. Participate in Life Briefs, which provide real-world experience, transcend conventional teaching approaches, and connect academic concepts with practical implementation. Developed in collaboration with top regional firms, this program ensures students acquire essential skills for career success. As a BEng program, it emphasizes engineering design, analysis, and consultancy while qualifying you for IEng (Incorporated Engineer) certification. In an era of climate challenges and limited resources, engineers play a crucial role in creating, planning, and safeguarding our infrastructure. The BEng (Hons) Civil Engineering program at ARU concentrates on infrastructure design and assessment, with students tackling actual construction projects from the outset. This project-driven curriculum provides practical training, developing engineering mindsets and skills from day one.
This hands-on program teaches site assessments, land surveys, material selection, infrastructure analysis and design, and construction planning, with significant emphasis on sustainable practices and environmental considerations. Students will master computer-aided design and specialized software while learning from experienced instructors in dedicated facilities featuring geotechnical, hydraulic, and concrete testing labs. Beyond labs, opportunities include guest lectures and optional industry placements. The course includes three intensive construction projects and aligns with current Engineering Council standards (AHEP 4.0). JBM accreditation for this BEng (Hons) Civil Engineering degree will be pursued once sufficient student work is available for assessment.
