Pursuing a BA (Hons) in Criminology and Policing at ARU means receiving career-focused support from your very first day.
Our connections with regional police departments and professionals provide numerous ways to interact with criminal justice experts through guest lectures (including those arranged by our Policing Institute for the Eastern Region), workshops, field visits, and research initiatives.
There may be chances to collaborate directly with nearby police departments. For instance, a student-led initiative supported by Cambridge Constabulary recently investigated police officer demographics and hiring practices.
Your education will be guided by instructors with practical expertise: certain modules feature instruction from current and former criminal justice professionals, including Crime Scene Investigators. Our criminology faculty are actively engaged in research, often collaborating with law enforcement on actual cases. An optional placement year is also available.
We'll encourage your participation in justice-related initiatives, nonprofit organizations, and community service to build practical experience within the legal system. Additionally, you'll enhance your professional profile by developing strong analytical, research, and communication abilities.
