Games Development and Technology research examines the creation of real-time 3D gaming environments, networked gameplay systems, and distributed computing solutions. Key investigation areas include (but aren't restricted to): graphics programming, artificial intelligence implementation for games, analysis of player engagement mechanics, virtual production methods, and interactive visualization techniques.

This research area benefits from the guidance of expert supervisors from the School of Design and Informatics, including scholars with established backgrounds in mathematics, computer science, game programming, and commercial games development experience. Research applications may extend beyond the gaming sector, potentially contributing to other industries that utilize advanced interactive systems and computer graphics technology.

Abertay University serves as the principal partner for InGAME: Innovation for Games and Media Enterprise, an AHRC-supported research and development initiative for Dundee's gaming community. Qualification Requirements

The minimum entry requirement for all our research degrees is an Upper Second Class Honours degree (or equivalent) at undergraduate level in an appropriate discipline and/or a Master's degree.

IELTS Academic: total 6.5 with at least 6.0 in each component.
TOEFL-iBT (including Home Edition): total 92 with at least 20 in each component. We do not accept TOEFL My Best Score to meet our English language requirements.
