Digital technology has become indispensable in today's world. Consequently, safeguarding against cyber threats, information leaks, and personal data compromise has become crucial for everyone - from private citizens to corporations and national institutions. To address this escalating need across various sectors, Heriot-Watt University has introduced an innovative course for 2020: the BSc Computer Science (Cyber Security) degree. This undergraduate program equips students with comprehensive knowledge and practical expertise in computer science, specializing in cyber defense, while also developing essential professional competencies to tackle contemporary organizational security challenges.
Throughout this course, students will master the fundamentals of network architecture and computing systems, gaining insights into communication vulnerabilities and digital forensic methods. The curriculum also covers secure coding practices and explores protective measures like authorization protocols, cryptographic systems, and threat monitoring that safeguard actual networks and infrastructure.

American High School Diploma/SABIS - 70% + SAT I 1000 (500 English and 500 Math)
Tawjihiyya - 80% or Elite/Advance - 75% + EmSAT (English 1400 and 1200 Maths)
International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme - 24 points (3 HL including Maths, and 3 SL)
BTEC Level 3 Ext Diploma - MMM
FBISE grade 12 or equivalent - 70%
Russian/Kazakhstan (Attestat) - Grades of 5 in every subject + IELTS 6.0
French Baccalaureate - 14/20 + IELTS 6.0
Lebanese Baccalaureate - 85% or 14/20 + IELTS 6.0
As our programmes are taught and assessed in English, applicants must be able to prove their level of English language ability as part of the application process. This should be shown through one of the following means you have passed one of the following English Language Tests at the levels indicated (we will need to verify the results of the test and as such you will need to upload your original certificate as part of the application process). IELTS Academic 6.0 (with no band below 5.5), TOEFL ibt 78 including reading 18, listening 17, speaking 19 and writing 21.
