The Master of Fine Arts is a two-year, full-time low-residency program that allows participating artists to reside and create anywhere in New Zealand. Whitecliffe MFA students engage in thoughtful dialogue, receive thorough feedback, and enjoy meaningful interactions with distinguished artists, curators, writers, and arts professionals from both New Zealand and abroad, equipping them to excel in their artistic careers.
This full-time MFA spans two years (with year one at level 8 and year two at level 9), featuring a low-residency format that gives students the flexibility to work from any location in New Zealand. Structured around four annual week-long seminars, the program is taught by faculty and visiting instructors who are renowned artists, critics, writers, and curators. Each student receives guidance from two supervisors tailored to their artistic focus, ensuring continuous support for their evolving studio practice and research throughout the program.
