The Master of Teaching and Learning (Secondary) is an intensive 10-month, full-time program featuring 22 weeks of classroom-based training. This hands-on experience will enhance your teaching abilities while demonstrating how educational theory connects with real-world practice.
You'll be assigned to a Wellington-region school, spending two days weekly working with a mentor teacher in an actual classroom setting. Additionally, you'll attend two days of scheduled campus classes each week for collaborative learning, critical analysis, and skill development.
Beyond your primary placement at a Kaianga Akopai (host school), you'll complete a four-week placement at another school during the first semester. In the second semester, you'll immerse yourself full-time for eight weeks at your host school to broaden and strengthen your teaching expertise.
