You’ll be able to demonstrate advanced knowledge of concepts and techniques behind Artificial Intelligence. And you’ll acquire skills to build AI tools with a wide range of applications and the potential to solve real-world problems across sectors like education, logistics, business, and the web. Our Master of Artificial Intelligence is the first of its kind to be offered in New Zealand. Study with our AI research group of over 50 researchers and students, whose pioneering work is at the cutting edge of AI knowledge and development.The Master of Artificial Intelligence can typically be completed in 12–16 months of full-time study, or in up to two years part time.Most students will need to start their course of study in Trimester 1, which begins in February. If you have prior knowledge of the field, you may be able to start in Trimester 2—talk to the programme director to discuss your options. If you are studying full time, you can expect a workload of 40–45 hours a week for much of the year. Part-time students doing two courses per trimester will need to do around 20–25 hours of work a week. Make sure you take this into account if you are working.
To be accepted into this programme you will need:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related subject with at least a B average in the relevant final year courses.
To be accepted into this programme you will need one of the following:
IELTS: minimum overall score of 6.5 with no sub-score below 6.0
TOEFL: minimum score of 90 for the internet-based test with a minimum of 20 in writing
Pearson Test of English: minimum score of 58 (with a ‘Communicative’ score of not less than 50)
EPP: minimum final scores of 4,4,5,5
Cambridge English Qualifications: C1 Advanced or C2 Proficiency with a score of 176 or higher, with each skill score no less than 169
New Zealand Certificates in English Language (NZCEL): Level 5 (Academic)
NZAPA: English New Zealand Accredited Pathway Assessment Level 3 (with no skill lower than Level 2)
