The Master of Philosophy is a one-year research-focused program where students conduct supervised studies examining important and substantial topics. The need for Earth Sciences specialists keeps increasing as we strive to improve management of our soil, water, minerals, energy, and coastal/marine resources, while also studying natural disasters like floods, earthquakes, tsunamis, landslides, and volcanic activity.
This degree consists of a research project in the form of a thesis, dissertation, substantial research or creative work.
A recognised bachelors degree with a B/B+ average, and a B/B+ average in a relevant subject (if required).
Some faculties/schools require an honours degree (to demonstrate research capacity). Where the above requirements are not met, further study in a lower level programme may be required first.
