Food is essential for everyone, and our dietary choices directly affect our health and wellness. The nutrients in our meals—including energy sources, carbs, fats, proteins, vitamins, and minerals—play a crucial role in our well-being. Human Nutrition explores how food influences growth, disease prevention, and physical capabilities. This field examines the effects of nutrition on individuals and communities, both in New Zealand and globally, throughout every stage of life. You'll discover the vital nutrients in food, their health benefits, and how cultural and social factors shape our eating habits.
Since nutrition concerns everyone, Human Nutrition is universally important. By gaining expertise, you can create meaningful change at international, national, local, and family levels. Your studies will also offer personal insights. You'll learn from top specialists who share cutting-edge knowledge in their fields.
Pursuing Human Nutrition leads to diverse career paths in New Zealand and abroad. It also prepares you to become a certified nutritionist or pursue advanced studies, applying your skills in practical settings like nutrition clinics, public health, or sports organizations.
You'll develop versatile skills for various professions. Our alumni work in healthcare, government agencies, businesses, research, education, elite sports, private practice, and food production. Māori and Pacific graduates are especially in demand, particularly by health services nationwide.
