The 240-credit Master of Advanced Nursing Practice (MAdvNP) offers a specialized study pathway for nurses seeking prescribing qualifications under New Zealand's Health Practitioners Competence Assurance Act (HPCAA) 2003. This program enables registered nurses to fulfill the Nursing Council of New Zealand's nurse practitioner competency requirements (NCNZ 2017). Structured around eight courses and mastery learning concepts, the degree enhances nurses' existing clinical expertise. The research-based curriculum supports national health improvement strategies while preparing graduates to address New Zealand's varied healthcare demands through both academic instruction and practical training. Prescribing practicums require supervised clinical work with approved prescribers in healthcare settings. Candidates must demonstrate employer backing for their clinical education and specify their intended practice focus population(s).
