A periodontist is a dental specialist focused on preventing, diagnosing, and managing periodontal disease, as well as placing dental implants. These professionals are particularly skilled in addressing oral inflammation. Their rigorous training equips them with up-to-date methods for identifying and treating gum disease, along with expertise in aesthetic periodontal treatments.
The Doctor of Clinical Dentistry (DClinDent) program offers advanced education across ten dental specialties. Each specialty track is designed to qualify graduates for specialist registration, while cultivating critical thinking, research capabilities, and refined clinical expertise. Combining clinical research with hands-on practice, the curriculum prepares graduates to serve both as practitioners and expert consultants in their selected fields. Coursework encompasses research methodologies, advanced clinical sciences, and specialized practice techniques. Students complete their training by producing a thesis that makes an original contribution to their specialty's knowledge base.
