The University of Otago's Orthodontics Discipline maintains an outstanding legacy as New Zealand's sole academic institution offering orthodontic education. This department is committed to delivering exceptional teaching, innovative research, and expert clinical care in Orthodontics and Craniofacial Anomalies.
The Doctor of Clinical Dentistry (DClinDent) program offers postgraduate training across ten dental specialties. Each specialty track equips graduates with the necessary qualifications for specialist registration, while cultivating critical thinking, research capabilities, and advanced clinical expertise. Combining clinical research with hands-on practice, these programs train students to become both skilled practitioners and expert consultants in their selected fields. The curriculum encompasses research methodology, advanced clinical sciences, and practical clinical training, culminating in a thesis that makes an original contribution to the student's chosen specialty area.
