The MB ChB (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery) is widely known as the standard medical qualification. After completing the Health Sciences First Year program at Otago, school graduates can apply for second-year medical studies. University graduates also have the option to enter at this stage. Accepted students undertake five additional years of study, followed by a provisional year of practice to obtain full medical registration. Career paths span diverse fields in both public and private healthcare systems, encompassing research, teaching, population health, patient care, and more. Medical specialties range from Heart Medicine and Cancer Treatment to Child Health, Mental Health, Surgical Practice, Disease Study, Community Health, Family Medicine, and numerous other disciplines. The majority of physicians pursue advanced training in their selected specialty. A medical career offers global opportunities, professional esteem, and deep personal fulfillment.
