Gender represents a multifaceted aspect of social and cultural life that profoundly influences our life trajectories. It determines our professional choices and recreational pursuits. Beyond shaping personal identities, it impacts earnings, familial bonds, social connections, personal values, dietary habits, fashion choices, and even communication styles. Gender Studies examines classifications like "women," "men," "trans," and "non-binary," revealing their significance in shaping self-perception and societal views. In New Zealand's premier Gender Studies curriculum, we'll challenge your assumptions. You'll encounter fresh viewpoints on familiar concepts while analyzing diverse media forms - from TV and cinema to digital platforms, public discourse, visual arts, alternative cultures, and academic literature.
