The PGCertClinPharm is a general program tailored for pharmacy graduates and registered pharmacists seeking to enhance their expertise through postgraduate education. The Prescribing specialization caters to registered pharmacists who have finished the Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy, equipping them with the necessary competencies to register as Pharmacist Prescribers with the Pharmacy Council of New Zealand. This certification is ideal for pharmacists practicing in collaborative healthcare settings, providing them with advanced abilities in gathering and analyzing medication-related data and clinical research. A Prescribing specialization is available within this program. The Prescribing component covers: Applying in-depth pharmacotherapeutic understanding of medications within designated prescribing areas. Retrieving and assessing pertinent patient-specific clinical data to ensure safe and effective prescribing. Developing proficiency in patient evaluation, diagnosis, and clinical judgment to support optimal prescribing choices. Gaining hands-on experience in supervised prescribing practice.

Qualification Requirements

Entry to the Postgraduate Certificate and Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy is limited to 40 students per year. Entry to the Postgraduate Certificate in Prescribing is limited to 10 students per year. Selection is by academic merit based on your grades. You must have completed an undergraduate degree in pharmacy at a recognised university (or similar institution). You must also be currently registered as a pharmacist or be enrolled in the New Zealand pharmacist pre-registration programme. The Prescribing specialisation is only available if you have already completed one year of postgraduate study in clinical pharmacy, such as the Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy. You must currently be a New Zealand registered pharmacist with current registration with the New Zealand Pharmacy Council (or be enrolled in the New Zealand pharmacist pre-registration programme). IELTS (Academic) - Overall score of 6.5 and no bands below 6.0 Internet-based TOEFL (iBT) - Overall score of 90 and a written score of 21 Paper-based TOEFL - Overall score of 68 and a writing score of 21
