Gain hands-on expertise in viticulture, winemaking techniques, sensory analysis, wine chemistry, and microbiology while mastering core business principles of the wine industry. The MWineSci program integrates practical winemaking experience with academic studies, offering research opportunities that support New Zealand's wine sector and explore foundational aspects of fermentation science. This 180-point graduate program spans three semesters, with the initial year conducted at Waiheke Island's Goldwater Wine Science Centre. Final semester research projects can be completed in partnership with wine producers, at the Goldwater Centre, or at the City Campus.
Taught 180 points: Completed a Bachelor of Science in a relevant subject such as Biology, Chemistry, Earth Science, Geology, Environmental Science, Food Science or Geography (or an equivalent degree or subject). Grade required - GPAGrade Point Average 4.0
IELTS (Academic): Overall score of 6.5 and no band less than 6.0; Internet-based TOEFL (iBT): Overall score of 90 and written score of 21; Paper-based TOEFL: Overall score of 68 and a writing score of 21; Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE) or Cambridge English Proficiency (CPE): Overall score of 176 and no bands below 169; Pearson Test of English (PTE) Academic: Overall score of 58 and no PTE Communicative score below 50; Foundation Certificate in English for Academic Purposes (FCertEAP): Grade of B-; Michigan English Language Assessment Battery (MELAB): 85.
