The Master of Urban Planning (MUrbPlan) fosters in-depth investigation and rigorous evaluation of key urban planning challenges. Ideal for those holding a New Zealand planning qualification, this research-focused program enables you to examine critical aspects of planning design, technology, history, social equity, policy implementation, and professional practice. The MUrbPlan equips graduates for research-oriented careers, whether pursuing PhD studies, academic roles, or specialized positions involving research analysis, planning consultations, and development projects. Students may opt to complete their research through either a 35,000–40,000 word thesis or a comprehensive research portfolio combined with advanced coursework. The program offers an intellectually stimulating environment where students collaborate with faculty and peers engaged in cutting-edge planning research and critical discourse.
