Pursuing an MSc offers dedicated scientists the chance to specialize in a meaningful area of study while earning an advanced degree. A taught master's program delivers focused training in your selected discipline, whereas a research-based master's enhances your investigative abilities through collaboration with Faculty of Science experts—many of whom are leading figures in their domains. Typically, students begin an MSc after finishing a PGDipSci. The program requires completing 120 credits (up to 160 credits) in a specialization, achievable in one year full-time or two years part-time for research programs, or four years part-time for taught programs. Note that not all specializations provide both study options. For those entering directly from an undergraduate degree, 240 credits (maximum 280 credits) must be completed within two years full-time or four years part-time for research tracks, or six years part-time for taught programs. Again, not every specialization offers both pathways.

You must have completed one year of postgraduate study, following an undergraduate degree, at a recognised university (or similar institution), in a similar field to your intended specialisation. You will need a GPE of 5.0.
Research 240 points:
You must have completed an undergraduate degree in science in a similar field to your intended specialisation at a recognised university (or similar institution) with a GPE of 5.0.
