The MLitt serves as an alternative to a PhD for those holding a master's degree who wish to pursue a significant research endeavor. This program is available across most disciplines within the Faculty of Arts, pending approval and supervisory availability. You may choose to deepen your research in your existing field or explore a new academic area. The MLitt can enhance various academic or professional paths, particularly for those not seeking doctoral qualifications. Entry requires a BA(Hons) or PGDipArts in Linguistics with a minimum GPA of 5.0. Related disciplines such as Anthropology, Cognitive Science, Computer Science, Education, Languages, Maori Studies, Pacific Studies, Philosophy, and Psychology may also qualify applicants. Alternatively, a BA with a Linguistics major and a GPA of 5.0 or above in 75 advanced-level points (including at least 45 points in the major) is acceptable. The same related subjects may be considered for admission under this pathway.
You need to have completed a masters degree in any discipline from a recognised university (or similar institution) with a GPE of 4.0 or higher.
