The MLitt serves as an alternative to a PhD for those who already hold a master's degree and wish to pursue a significant research endeavor. Available across most disciplines within the Faculty of Arts (subject to approval and supervisory availability), the MLitt allows you to either deepen your expertise in your current field or explore a completely new research area. This degree can enhance various academic or professional pathways, particularly for those not pursuing doctoral studies. Art History postgraduate programs examine diverse methodologies and perspectives, covering European, American, New Zealand, Australian, Māori, and Polynesian artistic traditions. Your studies may focus on renowned figures like Rembrandt or examine broader themes such as public art's societal impact and museum culture. Art History at the postgraduate level extends beyond classical fine arts, enabling exploration of visual artifacts and their cultural meanings across different historical periods and societies.
You need to have completed a masters degree in any discipline from a recognised university (or similar institution) with a GPE of 4.0 or higher.
