This program equips exceptional science graduates and certain clinical program alumni (such as MBChB) with specialized skills to apply advanced biological and biomedical knowledge toward enhancing human health through innovative diagnostic and therapeutic approaches. Participants will create and execute biomedical and/or translational research aimed at advancing clinical care. A comprehensive written thesis presenting research outcomes is mandatory. While research primarily occurs within the Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences, students may alternatively pursue this program at the University's Liggins Institute. Biomedical science has driven revolutionary advancements in recent years, fueling expansion across multiple sectors including agriculture, pharmaceuticals, veterinary medicine, and medical research. Postgraduate qualifications in this discipline open diverse career paths in academic institutions, research centers, and private pharmaceutical/biotechnology firms, particularly in the United States and Europe. Please note: The University of Auckland does not participate in graduate recruitment and cannot assure professional registration or employment opportunities in New Zealand or elsewhere following qualification.
