This program equips exceptional science graduates and certain clinical program alumni (such as MBChB) with specialized skills to apply advanced biological and biomedical knowledge toward enhancing human health. Participants will innovate diagnostic methods and therapeutic approaches while conducting original biomedical or translational research to advance clinical care. The curriculum requires completion of a written thesis presenting research findings. Students may pursue their studies within the Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences or at the University's Liggins Institute. Over the past ten years, biomedical science has revolutionized multiple sectors including agriculture, pharmaceuticals, veterinary medicine, and medical research. Graduates with advanced training in this discipline find diverse career prospects in academic institutions, research centers, and biotech/pharmaceutical companies, particularly in the U.S. and European markets. Please note: The University of Auckland does not facilitate graduate employment and cannot ensure professional registration or job placement in New Zealand or internationally.
