The MA provides diverse options to suit your needs. You can choose between research-based or taught programs, with durations of one year or 18 months based on your qualifications, across over 40 subject areas. Your prior academic experience might allow you to explore a field different from your previous specialization. A research master's lets you make meaningful contributions to your discipline through an extensive research project guided by New Zealand's top academics. Alternatively, a taught master's offers intensive learning in small groups, direct engagement with faculty, and a more focused research component. You can pursue specialized coursework and independent research in fields like: French language studies, linguistics and translation, Francophone literature and cinema, Medieval French literature and cultural studies. Postgraduate French studies open doors for academic pursuits in France, including lecteur/lectrice positions at Paris-Sorbonne University and the University of Bourgogne. Additionally, we maintain an exchange partnership with the University of La Rochelle.
