The MA provides diverse options to suit your needs. You can choose between research-based or taught programs, with durations of one year or 18 months based on your qualifications, across over 40 academic disciplines. Your prior education might allow you to explore a field different from your previous specialization. A research master's lets you make meaningful contributions to your chosen discipline through an extensive research project guided by New Zealand's top academics. Alternatively, a taught master's offers intensive learning in small groups, direct engagement with faculty, and a more concise research component. Advanced studies are available in Egyptian, Greek, and Roman history and culture, along with the philosophical traditions and archaeological remains of ancient civilizations. Our Classical Studies and Ancient History postgraduate programs highlight our expertise in: Greek and Roman historical studies, Egyptian history, Late Antiquity, Archaeology and art history, and the philosophical heritage of Greece and Rome.
