Our faculty is globally recognized for cutting-edge research and innovation, offering exceptional exposure to diverse clinical settings. This Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) degree holds accreditation from the Australian Medical Council, acting on behalf of the Medical Council of New Zealand. Admission to the MBChB program is highly competitive with limited spaces. Selection criteria include academic excellence, performance in the University Clinical Aptitude Test for Australia and New Zealand (UCAT ANZ), and personal attributes demonstrated during the Multiple Mini Interview (MMI). Annually, 257 places are allocated to domestic students. Graduates of the Medical Programme qualify for provisional registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand. Career paths range from primary healthcare in general practice to various specialist fields. Research-oriented students may pause clinical MBChB studies after Part III to undertake a year-long supervised research project, earning a BMedSc(Hons) before completing clinical training to graduate with dual qualifications. Please note that the University of Auckland does not participate in graduate employment and cannot assure post-qualification registration or employment opportunities in New Zealand or elsewhere.
