The Bachelor of Performing and Screen Arts (Screen Arts) is a comprehensive program that blends creative, academic, and practical learning to prepare you for careers in Aotearoa's screen industry. As New Zealand's sole undergraduate degree providing a complete 'script-to-screen' journey, it operates within a framework rooted in Mātauranga Māori and the principles of our Te Noho Kotahitanga partnership. Our collaborative spirit with other disciplines shines through shared marae stays and whānau gatherings. By working alongside Māori creatives (writers, directors, etc.), we deepen this foundation for both staff and students. The presence of Te Noho Kotahitanga Marae and Maia center at Unitec offers invaluable cultural support. The first year introduces filmmaking processes, industry overviews, and the connection between technical skills, creativity, and narrative. Specialization begins in the second year, focusing on specific industry roles.
