Interpretation goes far beyond simply translating words from one language to another. Skilled interpreters grasp subtle meanings, cultural contexts, and adapt to various levels of formality across different professional fields. The real test lies in accurately representing each unique scenario.
You'll train in both consecutive and simultaneous interpretation between English and another language, examining how tone and idiomatic expressions impact communication. Your coursework will also prepare you for specialized interpreting in legal, medical, or corporate environments. These abilities prove invaluable in our diverse local and international communities.

AUT's Bachelor of Arts offers diverse majors including languages, global studies, criminal justice, psychology, event coordination, and teaching. Craft a personalized degree that aligns with your aspirations through the Bachelor of Arts program. Develop comprehensive insights about our world and your place within it, while discovering ways to create meaningful change.

While examining subjects that address societal challenges, you'll hone your abilities as an effective problem-solver, critical thinker, communicator, investigator, and inquisitive mind. The expertise you acquire, coupled with practical work experience during your final term, will equip you for rewarding professional opportunities both in New Zealand and internationally.
