This Master's program offers comprehensive training in applying psychological principles to sports, exercise, and performance environments to improve both wellbeing and athletic achievement. Professionals aiming for careers in elite sports settings increasingly require this specialized education. Across Ireland and the UK, graduates specializing in sports psychology have successfully transitioned into roles as performance directors, professional coaches, and sports administrators.
The program is undergoing accreditation review by the Psychological Society of Ireland and accepts applicants with undergraduate psychology degrees. Those holding degrees in other disciplines may consider our parallel MSc in Mental Skills and Mental Health in Sports and Exercise, as both programs share coursework.
This MSc curriculum provides students with robust theoretical foundations while developing essential professional competencies in performance psychology, exercise mental health, ethical practice, and research methodology. The program's primary objectives include delivering an exceptional educational experience through innovative teaching methods, fostering a scientist-practitioner mindset applicable to both athletic and fitness contexts, and emphasizing ethical standards in professional practice.
