The MSc in Psychological Science program is offered by the Department of Psychology, known for its research excellence and real-world applications. This master's program aligns with the department's focus, emphasizing research methodologies, social psychology, community and health psychology, and clinical psychology. It serves as both a pathway for research careers in public/voluntary sectors and a foundation for doctoral studies in psychology (for graduates with PSI-recognized bachelor's degrees).
Students gain sophisticated expertise in Psychological Science methodologies and subject areas. The specialized streams enable focus on Research Methods, Social Psychology, Community and Health Psychology, or Clinical Psychology, allowing customization for individual career paths.
The curriculum delivers comprehensive training in psychological science, with options to concentrate in one of four specialized areas. Upon admission, students can freely choose their preferred specialization stream without limitations.

Qualification Requirements
Normally a 2.2 honours degree (Level 8 - National Qualifications Authority of Ireland) in psychology is required. In addition, we will consider relevant work experience and equivalent qualifications in cognate fields (e.g., sociology, economics) with substantial research methods experience. In the case of international candidates the overseas equivalent is required. Where candidates are non-native English language speakers, certified demonstrable achievements in a Standard English Language Competency Test will be necessary. Candidates may be interviewed as part of the selection process.
