The Master of Arts in Music Therapy is a full-time two-year program designed to equip graduates for careers as professional music therapists. Applicants must demonstrate advanced musical proficiency upon entry, enabling them to adapt these abilities for therapeutic applications across diverse client populations and settings.
This intensive MA program spans two years, training students for professional music therapy practice. Entry demands considerable musical competence, facilitating students' shift toward applying these skills therapeutically with various client groups in multiple environments. The curriculum focuses on developing piano, guitar, and vocal abilities while supporting growth on students' principal instruments. Clinical placements occur each semester, primarily at Irish locations though international opportunities occasionally arise. The program emphasizes music therapy theory, research methodologies, cultural awareness, and interpersonal skills to ready students for clinical practice.
