This program is perfect if you're passionate about applying mathematics and science to solve problems. If exploring fields like mechanical design, energy systems, and materials appeals to you, UL's Mechanical Engineering could be an excellent fit.
Mechanical Engineering covers a wide range of topics, equipping graduates for careers across various industries, including Energy, Automotive, Chemical Processing, Research, Automation, Manufacturing, Design Consultancy, Materials Processing, and Aviation. The degree not only provides a solid foundation in core Mechanical Engineering principles but also offers opportunities to specialize in areas aligned with both Irish and global industry needs.
UL's Mechanical Engineering program follows established standards from professional engineering bodies (like Engineers Ireland and IMechE) and requires strong mathematical and problem-solving skills.
Admission to Mechanical Engineering is via LM116 (Engineering). Students complete a shared first-year curriculum before choosing their specialization (Mechanical, Biomedical, Civil, or Design and Manufacturing) in the second semester. The Bachelor's program focuses on the chosen discipline in Years 2-4, while the Master's program extends this specialization through Year 5, with various advanced modules available.
