The field of Design and Manufacturing Engineering encompasses various subjects crucial for addressing significant real-world challenges. Manufacturing serves as the foundation of contemporary society and drives national prosperity. Graduates of the BE in Design and Manufacture program are envisioned to create functional products, guiding them from initial concepts through production phases to practical application and eventual recycling. Like all UL programs, this Engineers Ireland-accredited degree incorporates cooperative education placements and follows established engineering education standards. By enrolling in this program, you'll enhance your design and analytical abilities while exploring key areas such as design fundamentals, production techniques, CAD, automation, materials science, quality control, capacity planning, cost analysis, and sustainability. The curriculum employs CDIO methodology (Conceive-Design-Implement-Operate) with emphasis on active and problem-based learning throughout all years.
This course delivers comprehensive training in engineering and design fundamentals, prioritizing hands-on project work. You'll gain thorough understanding of manufacturing techniques and product development processes while being challenged to devise practical solutions to genuine problems.
Structured over four years and eight semesters, the program has two distinct phases. The initial year (Part I) establishes core engineering knowledge, accommodating students' diverse educational backgrounds. First-year modules are shared with Mechanical, Civil, and Biomedical Engineering disciplines.
