This program provides comprehensive insights into the core aspects of sports, exercise, health, and physical activity from a scientific viewpoint. You'll explore the scientific principles underlying safe participation and optimal performance in sports and physical activities throughout your studies.
Scientific approaches significantly influence how modern athletes prepare. Researchers continually analyze and enhance how training techniques impact the body's physiological systems to boost strength, speed, endurance, skills, and stress management during performance.
Science isn't just for elite athletes. Inactivity is widely acknowledged as a key factor in numerous health conditions, including heart disease, obesity, hypertension, type 2 diabetes, osteoporosis, and some cancers. Beyond athletic performance, sport and exercise scientists study how different exercise regimens affect health, as well as how physical activity can help treat and prevent illnesses. They also investigate exercise's psychological benefits and strategies to encourage consistent participation.
The four-year Bachelor of Science in Sport and Exercise Sciences includes an eight-month cooperative education placement in relevant workplaces during the third year.
