This program offers a flexible starting point if you're uncertain about your specialization. Experience a comprehensive first year that explores diverse topics in Biological and Chemical Sciences before selecting your focused pathway for the final three years of your degree. UL allows you to sample different disciplines before making your choice. This program serves as an ideal foundation for those pursuing graduate medical school or careers in Bioscience/Life Sciences.
The LM123 Biological and Chemical Sciences program features two key student resources. First, the Science & Maths Learning Support Centres help strengthen core scientific and mathematical skills. Second, all degree options include an eight-month industry placement through the Cooperative Education program, allowing students to apply classroom knowledge while developing teamwork, problem-solving, and communication abilities - significantly boosting future employment prospects.
Participants will study core modules in chemistry, biology, mathematics, and physics. Since subsequent degree paths emphasize biology, chemistry, or both, LM123's curriculum builds essential competencies in these areas. Alongside these foundational courses, specialized modules introduce key concepts from potential degree paths including industrial biochemistry, pharmaceutical & industrial chemistry, biosciences, and environmental science.
