Exploring Politics and International Relations involves cultivating critical thinking and comprehending global dynamics. If you're passionate about domestic or global current events, if you often ponder why situations exist as they do and how they could evolve, then UL's Politics and International Relations program might suit you. You'll acquire research methodologies, analytical techniques, and reasoning abilities, learning to implement these in practical scenarios. The curriculum examines Ireland and Europe's global roles, political decision-making processes and their beneficiaries, international state interactions, societal ideals and their shortcomings, and methods to distinguish between them.
In our interconnected world, political understanding requires the widest lens. Our faculty brings extensive, diverse expertise, making UL's Politics and International Relations program notable for its comprehensive coverage. Beyond mastering Irish and EU political systems, students explore global international relations and can examine various regional political landscapes. Foundational philosophical debates about societal and governmental structures form another key component. During their final year, students can focus on specific political topics that particularly engage them.
