The Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice is a four-year interdisciplinary degree program. Each semester combines coursework from Law, Sociology, Politics, and Public Administration. This multidisciplinary approach provides students with a thorough grasp of the criminal justice system and its societal interactions. The curriculum also includes Psychology courses to explore human behavior, criminal motivations, and the roles of justice system participants like law enforcement, judges, and jurors. Management courses equip students with vital skills for administrative positions in the criminal justice field.
A highlight of the program is the eight-month cooperative work placement during Year 2. This co-op experience offers exceptional hands-on opportunities in social impact and community organizations, allowing students to apply classroom knowledge while establishing professional connections. International placement options are also available.
Develop specialized expertise in Criminal Justice. The School of Law oversees this program, housing the renowned Centre for Crime, Justice and Victim Studies - established in 1997 as a national research hub. University of Limerick students learn from published experts in criminal justice, complemented by distinguished faculty from Sociology, Politics, Public Administration, Psychology, and Management disciplines.
