The Postgraduate Diploma (Advanced Nursing Practice) program aims to equip experienced registered nurses holding a relevant MSc in nursing with specialized knowledge, advanced decision-making abilities, and clinical expertise for expanded independent practice. These defining attributes are influenced by: the practitioner's work environment, patient/client requirements, and evolving demands within healthcare systems.
This curriculum prepares learners to become independent practitioners, proficient in providing exceptional direct care to specialized patient populations. Specifically, Advanced Nurse Practitioners will gain the skills to enhance well-being, deliver medical services, and encourage healthy living for patients/clients, their support networks, and caregivers across diverse healthcare environments, working alongside other professionals within established practice boundaries.
Career Prospects
Graduates of this program qualify for registration as Advanced Nurse Practitioners (RANP) with NMBI.
Be registered as a nurse or midwife on the register of the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI);
Have a minimum of an honours primary degree in Nursing or equivalent
Be currently employed as a nurse or midwife and in the areas of practice that you plan to undertake you Advance Practice Programme
Comply with current minimum entry requirements for admission to the programme of education for nurse prescribing. This includes:

IELTS: 6.5 overall no less than 6.5 in any one component; Cambridge C1 Advanced (CAE): 176 overall; Cambridge C2 Advanced (CPE): 180 overall; TOEFL: 88 overall (20 Listening, 20 Speaking, 24 Writing, 19 Reading); Pearson PTE: 61 overall, no less than 61 in any one component.
