Science PhD candidates at the College will participate in a Structured PhD program. The School of Physics organizes its research through three key groups: the Centre for Photonics and Imaging, the Atmospheric and Environmental Research Cluster, and the Centre for Astronomy. Research focuses span Applied Optics and Imaging Science, Laser microfabrication and device innovation, Tissue Optics with Microcirculation Imaging, as well as Medical Imaging & Modeling. Studies also examine aerosol and gaseous compound characteristics in coastal marine settings, exploring their impact on climate change.
To be eligible to enter on a programme of study and research for the degree of PhD you must have reached a high honours standard at the examination for the primary degree or presented such evidence as will satisfy the Head of School and the College of your fitness.
English Language Requirements
IELTS: 6.5 overall, no less than 5.5 in any one component; Cambridge C1 Advanced (CAE): 176 overall; Cambridge C2 Advanced (CPE): 180 overall; TOEFL: 88 overall (7 Listening, 16 Speaking, 18 Writing, 8 Reading); Pearson PTE: 61 overall, no less than 48 in any one component.
