Plants represent nature's most efficient solar energy converters, shaped by evolutionary processes. The fields of Botany and Plant Science explore plants through both basic and practical studies, examining them across various scales from entire ecosystems down to molecular components like genetics and biochemistry. Our research encompasses diverse plant forms such as algae (including seaweeds and diatoms), bryophytes, pteridophytes, conifers, and angiosperms - studying both wild species and domesticated varieties (including agricultural crops and timber species), along with genetic model organisms like Arabidopsis. Plant science stands as a crucial biological discipline for achieving sustainable progress, especially in emerging nations.
