This two-year Master of Science program is designed for individuals with minimal or no background in IT who wish to launch a career in the technology sector. The curriculum focuses on essential software development skills and methodologies while providing a strong foundation in research and its practical implementation within specialized ICT (information and communications technology) fields. Participants have the option to complete Year One and earn a Higher Diploma (1SD1).
Graduates can pursue diverse roles across the software industry or other sectors including telecom, healthcare IT, energy IT, digital media, finance, and consulting. Numerous alumni establish careers aligned with their research specialization. Recent hiring organizations include Fidelity Investments (Galway), Cisco (Galway), and Ericsson (Athlone).
Candidates must have a minimum 2.1 honours (Level 8) undergraduate degree (or equivalent international qualification). If applicable, applicants require a GPA score of 3.0 (or equivalent international qualification) and an IELTS score of 6.5 with no less than 6.5 in the writing ability band and no less than 6 in any other bands. (or equivalent international qualification).
English Language Requirements
IELTS: 6.5 overall, no less than 6.5 in writing and no less than 6 in any other one component; Cambridge C1 Advanced (CAE): 176 overall; Cambridge C2 Advanced (CPE): 180 overall; TOEFL: 88 overall (12 Listening, 18 Speaking, 24 Writing, 13 Reading); Pearson PTE: 61 overall, no less than 61 in writing, and no less than 50 in any one other component.
